Rules

1. First possession of the game will be decided by a coin toss.

2. The player with possession will “check” the ball with the opposing team, then has the option to dribble, shoot or pass the ball.

3. Each game will be to 15 points or 15 minutes (running clock). The team must win by only one point; there is no requirement to “win by 2.”

4. Teams score by either 1-point shots inside the three-point line or by 2-point shots taken from behind the three-point line.

5. If the game ends in a tie after regulation time, there will be a sudden death overtime period. First possession for overtime will be determined by a coin toss.

6. After a basket has been scored or a foul called, a player must put the ball in play behind the three-point line above the free throw line.

7. On defensive rebounds or steals, players must return the ball by dribble or pass across the three-point line before a basket may be attempted. Once across the line, they do not have to pass the ball before shooting.

8. After a basket, the team scored upon will put the ball in play.

9.Everyone will call their own fouls. If the foul is contested, the court monitor/referee will make the final call.

a. All non-shooting fouls will result in the change of possession until a team has reached 7 fouls in a game, at which point an automatic point will be awarded to the fouled team.

b. All shooting fouls will result in one free throw for a shot inside the three-point line, and two free throws for a shot outside the three-point line. Once a team has reached 7 fouls in a game, the other team will get an automatic 1 point for shots inside the three-point line or 2 points for a shot outside the three-point line.

10. The three-second rule will apply to all offensive players and will be called by the court monitor/referee.

11. Substitutions may be made after a basket or an out-of-bounds play.

12. Each team is only allowed one 30-second timeout under the last minute of play.

13. All other questions regarding rules will be as outlined in the USAB 3x3 rules and may be subject to change. Please contact us regarding your specific question.
